My Top 5 Webtoon Recommendations

I recently realized that multiple people were doing blog posts on Webtoons. So I thought I’d join in this trend. However, I have so many I’m reading that it would be too hard to pick just one. So today I present my top 5 Webtoons (in no particular order) that I recommend.

Rooftops & Roommates by: Zaanart

Rooftops & Roommates was the first Webtoon that I discovered. I was scrolling instagram when I discovered the artist and this comic and decided to give it a try. I still love it today and recently the story has been getting pretty interesting. Rooftops & Roommates is about Jeb, who is actually a gargoyle attempting to stay in the human world to get an architecture major. Between studying for classes, magical mishaps, and fun collage things, Jeb goes on lots of mini adventures along with his roommate Tod. Each episode isn’t too long so it makes for a good series to easily catch up on and it updates twice a week. So if you're looking for a funny and magical comic, then this is the one.

Spellward Bound by: DuneDeca

This is a Webtoon that I recently and randomly discovered due to the fact that I thought the art looked cool. And after checking it out I realized I had found a new favorite of mine. Spellward Bound follows Mateo, whose dream is becoming an astronaut. But because of a magical incident he now has the ability to use the powers of magical denizens from a fantasy world. The price however, is that he slowly looses his connection to earth and must find a cure quickly before he’s no longer human! Apparently this comic was on canvas before it became an original which is pretty cool. The episodes are a little long, but it updates once a week so it’s a good easy-paced read. But nonetheless, if you’re up for a magical adventure in a fantasy world then Spellward Bound is it.

Marionetta by: Miriam Bonastre Tur

I also discovered this Webtoon around the same time as I did with Spellward Bound and yet again, the art drew me in. Marionetta is about a girl named Julia who, with her friend Kamille, discover a traveling circus that’s filled with amazement and wonder. It’s also filled with magical and while exploring, they find some secrets about the circus that could affect their potential. I like the story so far in this comic and it was kind of hard to write an intro without spoiling anything too major in the story for anyone who ends up reading it. But if you like magical stories and cliffhangers, then this is the one for you.

Evelyne and the Occult by: InksOwl comics

Along with Rooftops & Roommates, Evelyne and the Occult was a Webtoon I discovered pretty early on. This Webtoon takes a deep dive into the supernatural with Evelyne, who loves all things supernatural. Along with her friends she will go out and explore any place that gives people the creeps. But during one adventure Evelyne and her friends discover just how real the world of the supernatural is, and how much of it they can take. This Webtoon in particular is for anyone who loves the scary stuff, as some episodes have some pretty scary characters and dark plot points. But the story gets very interesting as you continue reading and the art is amazing so solid 9.9/10 from me.

Plague Muffins by: Erin Kirkland

Lastly, but certainly not last in my recommended is Plague Muffins. As you may have guessed from the title, Plague Muffins takes place during the black plague. It’s an easygoing comic about a plague doctor named Scilis who discovered a cure to the plague in  a batch of muffins that he baked. Before long he starts distributing the cure in hopes to stop the plague. However when a change in leadership at the Plague Doctor Society occurs, the new leader of the society, Malcolm, wants Scilis and his cure gone! Will Scilis and his apprentice be able to stop Malcom and continue producing the cure? That’s for you to find out if you read it. I found this Webtoon to be kind of wholesome in a way and I love the art style and storyline of it all.Recently, this series came to an end so if you are looking for a short and simple Webtoon series then this is my pick for you.

While I have many more Webtoons I could recommend to you, I think 5 is a good starting number. If you do end up checking any of these out then great and if not then that’s ok. Thanks for reading :)
